How to remove yourself from TruthFinder

A plain-English walk-through of opting out of TruthFinder (truthfinder.com): what to expect, the free steps in order, how long it can take and why you should check again later.

What TruthFinder shows about you

TruthFinder is another PeopleConnect brand, alongside Intelius, Instant Checkmate and US Search. Its opt-out goes through the same Suppression Center, so if you have already used it for a sister site, you may have little left to do here.

A listing there can include your name, age, addresses, phone numbers and relatives in a free teaser, with fuller background report content behind a paid report. The exact fields vary from person to person, and the free view usually shows less than a paid one.

How we checked this guide

We confirmed that PeopleConnect's Suppression Center exists and that sister-brand opt-out addresses redirect to it. The center blocked our tools, so the steps come from DeleteMe's help article on PeopleConnect brands and independent guides that agree. Last checked October 30, 2026.

How to remove yourself from TruthFinder for free

The free route is the one to try first. Here are the steps, in order. The official address is suppression.peopleconnect.us.

  • Go to suppression.peopleconnect.us, the PeopleConnect Suppression Center.
  • Enter your email address to get a verification message. DeleteMe's help article says to click its link within 15 minutes, after which you return to the Suppression Center.
  • Provide your legal name and date of birth when asked and let the center find matching records.
  • Select each record that is you and set it to suppressed.
  • Confirm that the records now show as suppressed and save a note of the date.
  • Search for yourself on TruthFinder in a few weeks. If you appear again, repeat the process.

Use a dedicated email address for this and not your main one, and do not send a copy of your ID unless you have confirmed you are on the real site and there is no other way. Keep a spreadsheet with the date and the listing address for each request.

How long does TruthFinder removal take?

One independent guide suggests rechecking affiliated sites two to three weeks after the request. That is a rule of thumb from that guide, and PeopleConnect does not publish it as a commitment that we could find.

Things to know before you start

  • If you opted out through Intelius or Instant Checkmate, you may already have suppressed your records here. Search TruthFinder to see.
  • Records are matched by the name and date of birth you provide, so a listing under a former name may need its own request.
  • A suppression may not stay in place forever, so schedule a re-check.

Will your TruthFinder listing come back?

It can. People-search sites build listings from public records and purchased data, and they refresh that data. If your information shows up in a new batch, a listing you removed can be created again. We are not aware of a reliable published figure for how often that happens, so be suspicious of anyone who quotes one.

A sensible routine is to search for yourself a few weeks after your request, then every few months. If you move, change your phone number or buy a home, expect new records. The same record also sits on many other sites, so clearing TruthFinder does not clear the rest. Our guide to removing personal information from the internet covers the other sites, Google results and the legal tools that exist where you live.

If you would rather not do it yourself

Doing this by hand across many sites, then repeating it, is tedious. Data-removal services sell that repetition as a subscription. One of them is DeleteMe, the service we link, and we earn a commission if you sign up through the links marked Affiliate link. We have not tested DeleteMe, and the details below come from DeleteMe's own pages as we read them on October 30, 2026.

DeleteMe publishes a help article on how it removes information from Intelius, TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate, so TruthFinder is at least discussed in its own materials. Coverage can change, so confirm on its current pages.

  • What it says it does: you give it your details, and according to its site its team searches hundreds of data brokers and people-search sites, submits opt-out and removal requests and keeps monitoring and removing your information regularly, all year long.
  • Price: DeleteMe's help center describes the solo plan as about $11 a month, billed annually at $129, for one person for one year. Plans renew automatically unless you cancel, and prices change, so check the live page.
  • Our link's discount: the page our US link opens advertises 20% off all privacy protection plans with the code PARTNER20, valid for new members only on USA consumer plans. See the current DeleteMe offer (Affiliate link).

Removal services reduce how easy you are to find. They do not make you anonymous and they do not promise that a listing will never return. If you decide to look at it, see the DeleteMe plans (Affiliate link). If you prefer not to pay, the free steps above are enough to do the job for TruthFinder.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove myself from TruthFinder?

Use PeopleConnect's Suppression Center: verify your email, enter your legal name and date of birth, select the records that match you and set them to suppressed.

Is TruthFinder the same company as Intelius?

Both are PeopleConnect brands and share the Suppression Center, as do Instant Checkmate and US Search.

Do I need to check the site after I opt out?

Yes. Search for yourself after a few weeks, and again every few months, because records can reappear.

Is it worth paying someone to remove me from TruthFinder?

It depends on your time and how many sites you want to cover. The free opt-out above works without paying. A service such as DeleteMe, which earns us a commission if you sign up through our link, automates the repetition across many sites, but we have not tested it.
