How to remove yourself from Intelius
A plain-English walk-through of opting out of Intelius (intelius.com): what to expect, the free steps in order, how long it can take and why you should check again later.

What Intelius shows about you
Intelius is part of PeopleConnect, a company that also runs Instant Checkmate, TruthFinder and US Search. Opting out of Intelius goes through PeopleConnect's Suppression Center, not a form on intelius.com itself.
A listing there can include your name, age, addresses, phone numbers and relatives in a free teaser, with background report details behind a paid report. The exact fields vary from person to person, and the free view usually shows less than a paid one.
How we checked this guide
Intelius's own opt-out address redirects to PeopleConnect's Suppression Center, which we confirmed. The Suppression Center page needs JavaScript and blocked our tools, so the steps come from DeleteMe's own help article on PeopleConnect brands and other independent guides, which agree. How to remove yourself from Intelius for free
The free route is the one to try first. Here are the steps, in order. The official address is suppression.peopleconnect.us.
- Go to suppression.peopleconnect.us, the PeopleConnect Suppression Center. Intelius's opt-out page sends you there.
- Enter an email address and request a verification message. DeleteMe's help article says the message is titled Confirm your email address from PeopleConnect and that the link must be used within 15 minutes.
- Click the link. You are returned to the Suppression Center.
- Enter the details it asks for, which guides describe as your legal name and date of birth, and look through the records it finds.
- Select each record that matches you and set it to suppressed. Confirm that your records show as suppressed afterwards.
- Search for yourself on Intelius after a few weeks, and keep a note of the date you opted out.
Use a dedicated email address for this and not your main one, and do not send a copy of your ID unless you have confirmed you are on the real site and there is no other way. Keep a spreadsheet with the date and the listing address for each request.
How long does Intelius removal take?
One independent guide recommends waiting two to three weeks and then rechecking the PeopleConnect sites. That is that guide's advice, not a published PeopleConnect commitment, so use it as a sensible interval for your first re-check.
Things to know before you start
- Suppression Center is a single place for several PeopleConnect brands, including Instant Checkmate and TruthFinder. A guide on the network reports that it clears your background report across those brands. Check each brand's own search afterwards to be sure.
- US Search, an older name, also sends its opt-out visitors to the same Suppression Center, so there is no separate process to follow for it.
- The suppression can lapse if your data returns in a new batch of records, so repeat the check periodically.
Will your Intelius listing come back?
It can. People-search sites build listings from public records and purchased data, and they refresh that data. If your information shows up in a new batch, a listing you removed can be created again. We are not aware of a reliable published figure for how often that happens, so be suspicious of anyone who quotes one.
A sensible routine is to search for yourself a few weeks after your request, then every few months. If you move, change your phone number or buy a home, expect new records. The same record also sits on many other sites, so clearing Intelius does not clear the rest. Our guide to removing personal information from the internet covers the other sites, Google results and the legal tools that exist where you live.
If you would rather not do it yourself
Doing this by hand across many sites, then repeating it, is tedious. Data-removal services sell that repetition as a subscription. One of them is DeleteMe, the service we link, and we earn a commission if you sign up through the links marked Affiliate link. We have not tested DeleteMe, and the details below come from DeleteMe's own pages as we read them on October 30, 2026.
DeleteMe publishes a help article on how it removes information from Intelius, TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate, so those PeopleConnect sites are at least discussed in its own materials. Coverage and process can change, so confirm on its current pages.
- What it says it does: you give it your details, and according to its site its team searches hundreds of data brokers and people-search sites, submits opt-out and removal requests and keeps monitoring and removing your information regularly, all year long.
- Price: DeleteMe's help center describes the solo plan as about $11 a month, billed annually at $129, for one person for one year. Plans renew automatically unless you cancel, and prices change, so check the live page.
- Our link's discount: the page our US link opens advertises 20% off all privacy protection plans with the code PARTNER20, valid for new members only on USA consumer plans. See the current DeleteMe offer (Affiliate link).
Removal services reduce how easy you are to find. They do not make you anonymous and they do not promise that a listing will never return. If you decide to look at it, see the DeleteMe plans (Affiliate link). If you prefer not to pay, the free steps above are enough to do the job for Intelius.

Frequently asked questions
How do I remove myself from Intelius?
Use PeopleConnect's Suppression Center at suppression.peopleconnect.us. Verify your email, enter your details, select the records that match you and set them to suppressed.
Is Intelius opt-out the same as Instant Checkmate and TruthFinder?
They share the PeopleConnect Suppression Center, so the same process applies. Independent guides report that suppressing a record there covers the network's brands, but check each site afterwards.
How long does the Intelius opt-out email link last?
DeleteMe's help article says the PeopleConnect verification link must be clicked within 15 minutes. If it lapses, request a new one.
Is it worth paying someone to remove me from Intelius?
It depends on your time and how many sites you want to cover. The free opt-out above works without paying. A service such as DeleteMe, which earns us a commission if you sign up through our link, automates the repetition across many sites, but we have not tested it.
