GATE 05 · PROXY CHECKER

Test a proxy

Quick answer: The proxy checker tests an HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy you enter as host:port. Our server connects through it and reports whether it worked, how long it took, the exit IP address, country and network, and whether it leaked your real IP or added headers such as Via or X-Forwarded-For.

GLOBEPROXY · PROXY CHECKERGATE 05

Your proxy details are sent to our server only to run this one test. They are not stored or logged.

IP geolocation by DB-IP (CC BY 4.0). Location is approximate and often points to your provider's nearest hub, not your address.

Enter a public HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy. Our server connects through it to a test page on this site, then reports whether it connected, how long it took, the IP and country it exits from, and which proxy headers it showed.

Only public proxy servers can be tested. Private and internal addresses, and some ports, are blocked. Checks are limited to 5 per minute and 30 per hour. Each check times out after 10 seconds.

What the proxy checker does

Enter a public proxy as host:port, choose HTTP or SOCKS5, and add a username and password if it needs them. Our server connects through that proxy to a test page on this site and reports whether the connection worked, how long it took, the IP address and country the proxy exits from, and the network that owns that address.

It also looks at whether the proxy passed on your real IP address or added headers such as Via or X-Forwarded-For. That result is explained next.

How to read the result

  • Latency is the time for the whole test, including connecting to the proxy and the secure connection to our page, measured from our server. It is not the speed you would see from your own location.
  • Exit IP and country show where websites will think you are. Compare the provider with what you were sold. A residential or mobile proxy should not list a hosting company.
  • Header check: Real IP exposed means the proxy passed the original address on. Proxy headers seen means the real address was hidden but the proxy added headers that reveal it is a proxy. No proxy headers seen means neither happened in this test.

Common reasons a check fails

  • The type is wrong. A SOCKS5 proxy will not answer as HTTP, and the reverse.
  • The username or password is wrong, or the provider expects a different format.
  • The proxy only accepts connections from IP addresses you registered with the provider. Our server's address is not on your list, so the check is refused.
  • The proxy does not allow secure (HTTPS) tunnels, which this test needs.
  • The proxy is slow or offline. Each check stops after 10 seconds.
  • The address is private, or the port is blocked here. Only public proxies can be tested.

Limits and privacy

Checks are limited to 5 per minute and 30 per hour per visitor. Your proxy details are used for one test and are never stored. The proxy itself will see a connection from our server.

Frequently asked questions

What do transparent, anonymous and elite mean?

These are traditional labels for how much a proxy reveals. Transparent proxies pass on your real IP. Anonymous proxies hide it but announce that they are proxies. Elite proxies do neither. This tool describes what it saw instead of labelling the proxy.

Why do most proxies show no proxy headers?

This test runs over HTTPS. The proxy only forwards an encrypted connection, so it cannot add headers to the request. The check cannot detect proxies that only add headers to plain HTTP traffic.

Does a working result mean the proxy is safe or fast?

No. It means the proxy accepted a connection and returned our test page. Speed from your location, reliability over time, and who runs the proxy are not measured.

What is the difference between HTTP and SOCKS5 proxies?

An HTTP proxy understands web requests. A SOCKS5 proxy passes any kind of traffic without reading it. Use the type your provider gave you.

Is it safe to enter my proxy password?

Credentials are sent to our server over HTTPS, used for the one check, and not stored or logged. Even so, use a test login where you can, and change any password you are not comfortable having sent.

Why does my proxy work in my browser but fail here?

The most common reasons are IP whitelisting by the provider, a different port or type, or credentials in a different format. Our server connects from its own address, not yours.
