How to remove yourself from Instant Checkmate
A plain-English walk-through of opting out of Instant Checkmate (instantcheckmate.com): what to expect, the free steps in order, how long it can take and why you should check again later.

What Instant Checkmate shows about you
Instant Checkmate sells background reports and is part of PeopleConnect, along with Intelius, TruthFinder and US Search. Its opt-out runs through the PeopleConnect Suppression Center.
A listing there can include your name, age, addresses, phone numbers and relatives in a free teaser, with fuller background report content behind a paid report. The exact fields vary from person to person, and the free view usually shows less than a paid one.
How we checked this guide
We confirmed that PeopleConnect's Suppression Center exists at suppression.peopleconnect.us and that sister-brand opt-out addresses redirect to it. The center needs JavaScript and blocked our tools, so the steps come from DeleteMe's own help article on PeopleConnect brands and independent guides that agree. Last checked October 30, 2026.
How to remove yourself from Instant Checkmate for free
The free route is the one to try first. Here are the steps, in order. The official address is suppression.peopleconnect.us.
- Go to suppression.peopleconnect.us, the PeopleConnect Suppression Center.
- Request a verification email using an address you can open straight away. DeleteMe's help article says the message is titled Confirm your email address from PeopleConnect and that its link has to be used within 15 minutes.
- Click the link to return to the Suppression Center.
- Enter your legal name and date of birth, as guides describe, and review the records it finds.
- Choose each record that matches you and set it to suppressed, then check that the records show as suppressed.
- Search for yourself on Instant Checkmate after a few weeks, and note the date of your request.
Use a dedicated email address for this and not your main one, and do not send a copy of your ID unless you have confirmed you are on the real site and there is no other way. Keep a spreadsheet with the date and the listing address for each request.
How long does Instant Checkmate removal take?
One independent guide suggests waiting two to three weeks before rechecking the PeopleConnect brands. That is that guide's recommendation, not a published PeopleConnect commitment.
Things to know before you start
- Because the Suppression Center covers several PeopleConnect brands, a successful request here should also affect Intelius and TruthFinder, according to a guide on the network. Check each brand's search anyway.
- If a listing reappears and you believe the first request should have caught it, one guide advises contacting PeopleConnect through the Suppression Center instead of resubmitting blindly.
- Suppression is not guaranteed to stay in place, so re-check periodically.
Will your Instant Checkmate listing come back?
It can. People-search sites build listings from public records and purchased data, and they refresh that data. If your information shows up in a new batch, a listing you removed can be created again. We are not aware of a reliable published figure for how often that happens, so be suspicious of anyone who quotes one.
A sensible routine is to search for yourself a few weeks after your request, then every few months. If you move, change your phone number or buy a home, expect new records. The same record also sits on many other sites, so clearing Instant Checkmate does not clear the rest. Our guide to removing personal information from the internet covers the other sites, Google results and the legal tools that exist where you live.
If you would rather not do it yourself
Doing this by hand across many sites, then repeating it, is tedious. Data-removal services sell that repetition as a subscription. One of them is DeleteMe, the service we link, and we earn a commission if you sign up through the links marked Affiliate link. We have not tested DeleteMe, and the details below come from DeleteMe's own pages as we read them on October 30, 2026.
DeleteMe publishes a help article on how it removes information from Intelius, TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate, so these PeopleConnect sites are at least discussed in its own materials. Coverage can change, so confirm on its current pages.
- What it says it does: you give it your details, and according to its site its team searches hundreds of data brokers and people-search sites, submits opt-out and removal requests and keeps monitoring and removing your information regularly, all year long.
- Price: DeleteMe's help center describes the solo plan as about $11 a month, billed annually at $129, for one person for one year. Plans renew automatically unless you cancel, and prices change, so check the live page.
- Our link's discount: the page our US link opens advertises 20% off all privacy protection plans with the code PARTNER20, valid for new members only on USA consumer plans. See the current DeleteMe offer (Affiliate link).
Removal services reduce how easy you are to find. They do not make you anonymous and they do not promise that a listing will never return. If you decide to look at it, see the DeleteMe plans (Affiliate link). If you prefer not to pay, the free steps above are enough to do the job for Instant Checkmate.

Frequently asked questions
How do I remove myself from Instant Checkmate?
Use PeopleConnect's Suppression Center. Verify your email, enter your legal name and date of birth, select the matching records and set them to suppressed.
Does opting out of Instant Checkmate also cover Intelius?
They share the same Suppression Center, and an independent guide reports it covers the network's brands. Verify by searching each site.
What if the Instant Checkmate verification link expired?
DeleteMe's help article says the link must be used within 15 minutes. Request a new verification email and start again.
Is it worth paying someone to remove me from Instant Checkmate?
It depends on your time and how many sites you want to cover. The free opt-out above works without paying. A service such as DeleteMe, which earns us a commission if you sign up through our link, automates the repetition across many sites, but we have not tested it.
