How to remove yourself from CheckPeople

A plain-English walk-through of opting out of CheckPeople (checkpeople.com): what to expect, the free steps in order, how long it can take and why you should check again later.

What CheckPeople shows about you

CheckPeople is a people-search site that sells background reports. Its opt-out is a short search-and-confirm flow on its own page, and it does not require payment.

A listing there can include your name, age, addresses, phone numbers and relatives, with fuller details behind a paid report, according to how people-search sites of this kind typically work. The exact fields vary from person to person, and the free view usually shows less than a paid one.

How we checked this guide

CheckPeople's opt-out page loaded for our automated check, but only its title was readable (Opt-Out (Remove My Information)), so we could not read the form text ourselves. The steps below come from DeleteMe's published CheckPeople guide, which we read on October 31, 2026, and which describes the flow on that same address. CheckPeople may have changed the form, so follow the on-screen prompts where they differ. Last checked October 31, 2026.

How to remove yourself from CheckPeople for free

The free route is the one to try first. Here are the steps, in order. The official address is checkpeople.com/opt-out.

  • Search for yourself on checkpeople.com and note how your listing appears, including the name, city and age shown.
  • Go to checkpeople.com/opt-out. Fill in the form with the information as it appears in your listing, complete the captcha and click Search.
  • Find your listing in the results and click Opt-Out.
  • Enter an email address for verification, complete the captcha and choose to send the confirmation email. Use a dedicated or masked address.
  • Open the email (check spam if it is slow) and click the link in it.
  • On the next page, enter your name and say whom you are completing the request for, complete the captcha and submit it.
  • Search again after a few days. If a second listing shows your details, repeat the process for it.

Use a dedicated email address for this and not your main one, and do not send a copy of your ID unless you have confirmed you are on the real site and there is no other way. Keep a spreadsheet with the date and the listing address for each request.

How long does CheckPeople removal take?

We could not find a processing time published on CheckPeople's own page. DeleteMe's guide says the information should be removed within 5-7 days, and that it might take over a week. Treat that as a secondary estimate and check back before concluding anything.

Things to know before you start

  • The flow has two captchas and two email-driven steps, so allow ten minutes and keep the email tab open.
  • A request covers the listing you chose. If you appear more than once, each listing needs its own request.
  • Removal from CheckPeople does not affect other sites that hold the same public records.

Will your CheckPeople listing come back?

It can. People-search sites build listings from public records and purchased data, and they refresh that data. If your information shows up in a new batch, a listing you removed can be created again. We are not aware of a reliable published figure for how often that happens, so be suspicious of anyone who quotes one.

A sensible routine is to search for yourself a few weeks after your request, then every few months. If you move, change your phone number or buy a home, expect new records. The same record also sits on many other sites, so clearing CheckPeople does not clear the rest. Our guide to removing personal information from the internet covers the other sites, Google results and the legal tools that exist where you live.

If you would rather not do it yourself

Doing this by hand across many sites, then repeating it, is tedious. Data-removal services sell that repetition as a subscription. One of them is DeleteMe, the service we link, and we earn a commission if you sign up through the links marked Affiliate link. We have not tested DeleteMe, and the details below come from DeleteMe's own pages as we read them on October 30, 2026.

DeleteMe publishes its own CheckPeople opt-out guide, which suggests it handles this site, but we could not confirm from DeleteMe's pages which plans cover it today. Check DeleteMe's current list before you buy.

  • What it says it does: you give it your details, and according to its site its team searches hundreds of data brokers and people-search sites, submits opt-out and removal requests and keeps monitoring and removing your information regularly, all year long.
  • Price: DeleteMe's help center describes the solo plan as about $11 a month, billed annually at $129, for one person for one year. Plans renew automatically unless you cancel, and prices change, so check the live page.
  • Our link's discount: the page our US link opens advertises 20% off all privacy protection plans with the code PARTNER20, valid for new members only on USA consumer plans. See the current DeleteMe offer (Affiliate link).

Removal services reduce how easy you are to find. They do not make you anonymous and they do not promise that a listing will never return. If you decide to look at it, see the DeleteMe plans (Affiliate link). If you prefer not to pay, the free steps above are enough to do the job for CheckPeople.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove myself from CheckPeople?

Use the opt-out form at checkpeople.com/opt-out: search for your listing, click Opt-Out, verify by email, click the link and complete the final request form.

How long does a CheckPeople opt-out take?

We could not find a time on CheckPeople's own page. DeleteMe's guide says removal should happen within 5-7 days and might take over a week.

Is the CheckPeople opt-out free?

The form itself does not ask for payment in the flow DeleteMe describes. Be wary of any page that asks you to pay to remove a listing.

Is it worth paying someone to remove me from CheckPeople?

It depends on your time and how many sites you want to cover. The free opt-out above works without paying. A service such as DeleteMe, which earns us a commission if you sign up through our link, automates the repetition across many sites, but we have not tested it.
