How to remove yourself from TruePeopleSearch

A plain-English walk-through of opting out of TruePeopleSearch (truepeoplesearch.com): what to expect, the free steps in order, how long it can take and why you should check again later.

What TruePeopleSearch shows about you

TruePeopleSearch shows its listings for free, which is one reason it turns up near the top when you search your own name. It has a removal page with its own search and CAPTCHA.

A listing there can include your name, age, current and past addresses, phone numbers and relatives, shown free without an account. The exact fields vary from person to person, and the free view usually shows less than a paid one.

How we checked this guide

TruePeopleSearch served us a CAPTCHA instead of the removal page, so we could not read it ourselves. The steps come from independent guides, including DuckDuckGo's help page on the process, which agree. Last checked October 30, 2026.

How to remove yourself from TruePeopleSearch for free

The free route is the one to try first. Here are the steps, in order. The official address is truepeoplesearch.com/removal.

  • Go to truepeoplesearch.com/removal. It may show a CAPTCHA first.
  • On the form, choose that you are the subject of the request from the dropdown, enter your name and an email address you can open right now, and agree to the terms.
  • Complete the CAPTCHA and begin the removal. The site then gives you a search box.
  • Enter your first and last name with your city and state, and pick your listing from the results.
  • Submit the removal for that listing. DuckDuckGo's help page says you will not get follow-up emails when the information is removed.
  • If you have more than one listing, repeat from the search. The same page says you should be able to submit up to five opt-out requests at a time.

Use a dedicated email address for this and not your main one, and do not send a copy of your ID unless you have confirmed you are on the real site and there is no other way. Keep a spreadsheet with the date and the listing address for each request.

How long does TruePeopleSearch removal take?

We could not find a processing time published by TruePeopleSearch. DuckDuckGo's guide notes that no follow-up email arrives, so you need to search again yourself after a few days to see whether the listing is gone.

Things to know before you start

  • There is no confirmation email at the end, according to DuckDuckGo's guide, so keep your own record of the date and the listing.
  • Every listing needs its own request, including old addresses and other family members' pages that mention you.
  • The CAPTCHA can fail repeatedly. Try again later or from a different browser before concluding the page is broken.

Will your TruePeopleSearch listing come back?

It can. People-search sites build listings from public records and purchased data, and they refresh that data. If your information shows up in a new batch, a listing you removed can be created again. We are not aware of a reliable published figure for how often that happens, so be suspicious of anyone who quotes one.

A sensible routine is to search for yourself a few weeks after your request, then every few months. If you move, change your phone number or buy a home, expect new records. The same record also sits on many other sites, so clearing TruePeopleSearch does not clear the rest. Our guide to removing personal information from the internet covers the other sites, Google results and the legal tools that exist where you live.

If you would rather not do it yourself

Doing this by hand across many sites, then repeating it, is tedious. Data-removal services sell that repetition as a subscription. One of them is DeleteMe, the service we link, and we earn a commission if you sign up through the links marked Affiliate link. We have not tested DeleteMe, and the details below come from DeleteMe's own pages as we read them on October 30, 2026.

TruePeopleSearch is one of the most visited free people-search sites, but we could not confirm from DeleteMe's pages whether every plan covers it. Check DeleteMe's current list before you buy.

  • What it says it does: you give it your details, and according to its site its team searches hundreds of data brokers and people-search sites, submits opt-out and removal requests and keeps monitoring and removing your information regularly, all year long.
  • Price: DeleteMe's help center describes the solo plan as about $11 a month, billed annually at $129, for one person for one year. Plans renew automatically unless you cancel, and prices change, so check the live page.
  • Our link's discount: the page our US link opens advertises 20% off all privacy protection plans with the code PARTNER20, valid for new members only on USA consumer plans. See the current DeleteMe offer (Affiliate link).

Removal services reduce how easy you are to find. They do not make you anonymous and they do not promise that a listing will never return. If you decide to look at it, see the DeleteMe plans (Affiliate link). If you prefer not to pay, the free steps above are enough to do the job for TruePeopleSearch.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove myself from TruePeopleSearch?

Go to its removal page, choose that you are the subject of the request, enter your name and email, complete the CAPTCHA, search for your listing and submit the removal. Repeat for each listing.

Will TruePeopleSearch email me when my listing is removed?

According to DuckDuckGo's help page, no. Search for yourself again after a few days to check.

Can I remove several TruePeopleSearch listings at once?

DuckDuckGo's help page says you should be able to submit up to five opt-out requests at a time. Check what the current form allows.

Is it worth paying someone to remove me from TruePeopleSearch?

It depends on your time and how many sites you want to cover. The free opt-out above works without paying. A service such as DeleteMe, which earns us a commission if you sign up through our link, automates the repetition across many sites, but we have not tested it.
