How to remove yourself from PeopleFinders

A plain-English walk-through of opting out of PeopleFinders (peoplefinders.com): what to expect, the free steps in order, how long it can take and why you should check again later.

What PeopleFinders shows about you

PeopleFinders is a people-search and background-report site that publishes public-record listings. Its opt-out is a short form reached from the Do Not Sell link in its footer.

A listing there can include your name, age, current and past addresses, phone numbers and possible relatives, with more behind a paid report. The exact fields vary from person to person, and the free view usually shows less than a paid one.

How we checked this guide

PeopleFinders blocked our automated check of its opt-out page. The steps below come from independent guides that describe the same short form, so follow the on-screen prompts if the current form differs. Last checked October 30, 2026.

How to remove yourself from PeopleFinders for free

The free route is the one to try first. Here are the steps, in order. The official address is peoplefinders.com/opt-out.

  • Search for yourself on PeopleFinders and note each listing that is you.
  • Scroll to the footer and choose the Do Not Sell My Personal Information link, or go directly to peoplefinders.com/opt-out. Guides describe the public record removal option on that page.
  • Enter your name and an email address on the removal request form. Use a dedicated email.
  • Complete the CAPTCHA and send the request. A confirmation message from PeopleFinders should appear on screen.
  • Check your inbox for any verification email and click its link if one arrives.
  • Search again after a few days. If the form keeps rejecting your details or no email arrives, try another email provider, since some work-based addresses are filtered, and contact PeopleFinders through its privacy contact.

Use a dedicated email address for this and not your main one, and do not send a copy of your ID unless you have confirmed you are on the real site and there is no other way. Keep a spreadsheet with the date and the listing address for each request.

How long does PeopleFinders removal take?

We could not find a processing time published by PeopleFinders and independent guides give different answers, so we will not quote one. Allow several days, search again, and repeat if it persists.

Things to know before you start

  • Independent guides describe a phone route as well as the form. We could not verify the current number from PeopleFinders itself, so use the contact details on its opt-out page.
  • Opting out of PeopleFinders does not affect other sites that hold the same public records.

Will your PeopleFinders listing come back?

It can. People-search sites build listings from public records and purchased data, and they refresh that data. If your information shows up in a new batch, a listing you removed can be created again. We are not aware of a reliable published figure for how often that happens, so be suspicious of anyone who quotes one.

A sensible routine is to search for yourself a few weeks after your request, then every few months. If you move, change your phone number or buy a home, expect new records. The same record also sits on many other sites, so clearing PeopleFinders does not clear the rest. Our guide to removing personal information from the internet covers the other sites, Google results and the legal tools that exist where you live.

If you would rather not do it yourself

Doing this by hand across many sites, then repeating it, is tedious. Data-removal services sell that repetition as a subscription. One of them is DeleteMe, the service we link, and we earn a commission if you sign up through the links marked Affiliate link. We have not tested DeleteMe, and the details below come from DeleteMe's own pages as we read them on October 30, 2026.

PeopleFinders is a recognised people-search site, but we could not confirm from DeleteMe's pages whether it is covered by every plan. Check DeleteMe's current list before you buy.

  • What it says it does: you give it your details, and according to its site its team searches hundreds of data brokers and people-search sites, submits opt-out and removal requests and keeps monitoring and removing your information regularly, all year long.
  • Price: DeleteMe's help center describes the solo plan as about $11 a month, billed annually at $129, for one person for one year. Plans renew automatically unless you cancel, and prices change, so check the live page.
  • Our link's discount: the page our US link opens advertises 20% off all privacy protection plans with the code PARTNER20, valid for new members only on USA consumer plans. See the current DeleteMe offer (Affiliate link).

Removal services reduce how easy you are to find. They do not make you anonymous and they do not promise that a listing will never return. If you decide to look at it, see the DeleteMe plans (Affiliate link). If you prefer not to pay, the free steps above are enough to do the job for PeopleFinders.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove myself from PeopleFinders?

Use the Do Not Sell link in the footer or the opt-out page, enter your name and email, complete the CAPTCHA and send the request, then confirm by email if asked.

What if the PeopleFinders form rejects me?

Try a personal email address from a major provider, double check how your name is spelled in the listing, and use the contact details on PeopleFinders's opt-out page if the form keeps failing.

Is the PeopleFinders opt-out permanent?

Not necessarily. Sites like this refresh their records, so re-check every few months and repeat if you reappear.

Is it worth paying someone to remove me from PeopleFinders?

It depends on your time and how many sites you want to cover. The free opt-out above works without paying. A service such as DeleteMe, which earns us a commission if you sign up through our link, automates the repetition across many sites, but we have not tested it.
