The Webshare free plan: what it includes and what to check

Webshare offers a free plan with no credit card. Free plans are useful for learning and for small jobs, as long as you know the limits. This page lists what Webshare's own pages say, as read on October 31, 2026, and is clear about what we could not confirm.

What Webshare says the free plan includes

From Webshare's pricing page, its free-proxy page and its search listings, as read on October 31, 2026:

  • 10 proxies for free. The pricing page shows a 10-proxy plan at $0.
  • 1 GB of monthly bandwidth. Webshare's free-proxy page says the free plan includes 1 GB of monthly traffic for testing and browsing.
  • HTTP and SOCKS5 support.
  • No credit card required, and Webshare's listing says there is no time limit.
  • Dashboard, API documentation and a Chrome extension are listed on the same pages. Webshare says all paid features are available on the free plan; we did not verify that claim in detail.
  • Webshare's pricing FAQ describes the free proxies as shared. Shared means other users may use the same addresses.

These are Webshare's claims, not our test results. We have not used the free plan ourselves.

What we could not verify

Webshare's pages are largely built with JavaScript, and its help center did not return article text when we fetched it. So we could not confirm the following, and you should check them on the pricing page and in your dashboard after signing up:

  • Which countries the 10 free proxies are in. Webshare lists locations for its paid proxy server plans, but we could not confirm that the free plan has the same choice.
  • Exactly when the monthly bandwidth resets, or what happens when you use it up. Webshare says you can upgrade from the dashboard when you need more; we could not confirm what happens to the proxies at the limit.
  • Speed, uptime and success rates on the free proxies. Webshare publishes uptime figures for its network, but we have not measured anything.
  • Whether the free plan requires ID or account verification. Webshare's terms and verification rules apply; read them before you rely on the account. Our Webshare review discusses this from public sources.

What the free plan is good for

These are our opinions from the numbers above, not test results.

  • Learning how proxies work: setting one in a browser or script and watching what changes. See proxy setup in Chrome and Python requests.
  • Occasional spot checks of your own site from a different location. See test your website from another country.
  • Small, permitted scripts that make few requests. 1 GB goes further for plain pages than for images or video.
  • Trying the dashboard before you pay anything.

Limits to expect

  • 1 GB a month is small if you load heavy pages or run many requests.
  • Datacenter addresses are easy for websites to spot, and some sites treat them differently from home connections. See residential vs. datacenter proxies.
  • Shared proxies mean shared reputation: other users' behaviour can affect an address.
  • The location of an address may be reported differently by different databases. Check with the IP lookup.
  • A proxy does not give you permission to ignore a site's terms. Read the rules for any site you access, respect robots.txt and rate-limit your requests. See proxies for web scraping.

How to sign up and check your proxies

  • Go to Webshare through this Webshare link (Affiliate link), or type webshare.io into your browser if you prefer not to use the link. The plan costs the same either way.
  • Choose the free option and create an account.
  • Read the current plan details on the pricing page and in your dashboard, including locations and bandwidth.
  • Copy a proxy's address, port, username and password from the dashboard. Do not guess them.
  • Use the IP lookup through the proxy to confirm the address and location.
  • Test with one request before you build anything around it.

When to look at a paid plan

If you run out of bandwidth regularly or need a specific country, compare the paid options. Webshare's pricing page, as read on October 31, 2026, listed 100 datacenter proxies at $2.99 a month billed monthly, but prices change, so check the live page. Our Webshare review covers pricing, rules and refund terms from public sources, and the datacenter proxy page explains what you are buying.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Webshare free plan really free?

Webshare's pages say 10 proxies and 1 GB of monthly bandwidth with no credit card. We have not used it ourselves, so check the current terms when you sign up.

Which countries are included in the free plan?

We could not verify this from the pages we could read. Check the pricing page and your dashboard after signing up.

What happens when I use up the free bandwidth?

Webshare says you can upgrade to a paid plan from your dashboard. We could not confirm exactly what happens to the free proxies at the limit.

Can I use the free plan for scraping?

Technically it is a proxy list, but what you may do depends on the sites you visit and on Webshare's terms. Read both, and keep requests slow.
